Dragging Out The Forgotten Craft Skills

It is a truly exciting moment when having taken early retirement, the initial feeling of joy and permanent holiday has passed on and thoughts suddenly come to “what can I do now to fill the day”.  No need for boredom in my house.  I have waited all these years to start making things.  I have started slowly and gently, no need to go like a bull in a china shop after all – having worked for over 45 years, another few weeks of prepping won’t be a problem.

There are several craft, hobby and habidashery stores opened in my area of late.  This is indeed an inspiration and really thrilling.  In a day and age when everything is easily replaced and thus disposable, it is fabulous to get back to basics and try to replicate the skill and dedication my own grandmother exerted whenever she took up her trusty needles, crochet hook or did battle with her Frister & Rossman sewing machine!
