I have an acquaintenance who is very quiet, an unassuming lady, gentle and never says booh to a goose. I was therefore totally surprised when we were just chatting about this and that, and it transpires she has been an exsquisite needlewoman all her adult life and even better, actually tailors clothing still. This skill seems to be so lacking these days – I am utterly inexperienced at sewing – despite my own grandmother being a superb seamstress, the same as my pal. We had all our clothese made for us from undies to jackets, little matching outfits befitting a set of three evenly spaced girls. I wish I had taken more interest in the needlework classes at school – they always seemed to be a filler between other more interesting subjsects and I so regret not showing some flare. I too could be making myself a divine little chanel style dress and jacket – my dream of dreams!
